36-Year-Old Woman Sentenced to Life for Heroin Trafficking

The Colombo High Court has sentenced 36-year-old Wijesinghe Arachchilage Nirosha to life in prison for possession and trafficking of over 25 grams of heroin.

Nirosha, the wife of "Kudu Roshan," who was previously arrested on drug-related charges in Mattakkuliya, was taken into custody on September 27, 2021, following an intelligence-led police raid.

During the operation, authorities seized the heroin in her possession, later confirmed by government forensic analysts to contain 3.58 grams of pure heroin.

Following a trial, Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige ruled that the prosecution had proven the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the life sentence.
