MPs Who Lost Homes Receive Rs. 122 Million in Compensation – Tough Punishment Ahead Like Those Who "Misused Presidential Fund"?

It has been revealed that 43 former Members of Parliament, whose houses were damaged or destroyed during the Aragalaya protests, have received Rs. 122 million as compensation, according to Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Political analysts sarcastically suggest that these MPs will be punished as severely as those who allegedly "misused the Presidential Fund" and received bar permits during Ranil Wickremesinghe’s administration—meaning no punishment at all.

This move is widely criticized as yet another example of using public funds for political advantage while creating an illusion of justice and accountability.
