Attorney General’s Decision a Blow to the Government – Lal Wickramatunga

Lal Wickramatunga, the brother of slain journalist Lasantha Wickramatunga, expressed his disappointment with the Attorney General’s recent decision, calling it a serious setback for the government’s promise to ensure justice.

Speaking to the media on February 6, Lal Wickramatunga said that the new government had pledged both before and after its formation to uncover the full truth behind the murder of Lasantha Wickramatunga. He emphasized that the Attorney General’s decision was akin to a "slap in the face" to those assurances.

Wickramatunga noted that he remains hopeful and is closely monitoring the government’s next steps in addressing the matter. He urged the authorities to take meaningful action to deliver justice for his brother’s assassination, which remains one of Sri Lanka’s most high-profile unresolved cases.
