High Court Judge Ranga Srinath Abeywickrema Dissanayake Appointed as New Director General of CIABOC

High Court Judge Ranga Srinath Abeywickrema Dissanayake has been appointed as the new Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), effective today, by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

This appointment follows the resignation of High Court Judge W.K.D. Wijerathne from the post on October 7, 2024. Subsequently, applications were invited for the position in accordance with the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.

Since Wijerathne's resignation, Ms. M.R.Y.K. Udawela, the Commission’s Additional Director General, temporarily held the post. During her tenure, Ms. Udawela prepared charge sheets for 62 cases and submitted them to the court.

The Commission expressed its appreciation for Ms. Udawela's contributions during this interim period and looks forward to continued progress under the leadership of Judge Ranga Srinath Abeywickrema Dissanayake.
