President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that the army will be deployed to paddy mills that fail to operate in accordance with the government’s plan. The statement was made during his appearance on the Battle special program aired on Sirasa TV on January 21.
The President emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing issues in the agricultural sector and ensuring compliance with national strategies. He also revealed measures to enhance public security, including plans to bring back 65 high-profile criminals currently residing abroad.
As a crime-fighting initiative, the Police Special Task Force (STF) will be stationed outside identified prisons. To maintain operational integrity, the STF personnel assigned to these duties will be rotated every three months.
