Mahinda’s Petition Challenging Reduction of Security Without Proper Assessment to be Heard on March 19

The Supreme Court has decided to take up the fundamental rights petition filed by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on March 19. The petition challenges the government's decision to reduce his security personnel without conducting a proper security assessment.

The petition has named Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, several Cabinet Ministers, and others as respondents.

Former President Rajapaksa claims that the government arbitrarily decided to reduce his security personnel from 100 to 40 without an adequate security evaluation.
