Sarath Fonseka Bombing Case: Latest Developments


The case against three LTTE suspects accused of aiding and abetting the suicide bomber "Durga" in the 2006 suicide bombing attack on former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka was heard in the Colombo High Court today (28th). The hearing was presided over by Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe, with Deputy Solicitor General Lakmali Karunanayake representing the prosecution.

The Attorney General has filed charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act against the suspects: Selvarasa Kirubakaran, also known as Morris, Shanmugalingam Suriya Kumar, and Thambaiya Prakash, also known as Dhanush. The charges include aiding and abetting the suicide bomber, which resulted in the deaths of three of Sarath Fonseka’s bodyguards during the attack at the Colombo Army Headquarters in 2006.

The case has been adjourned until tomorrow (29th) for further proceedings.
