On Today, the Inter-University Students' Federation (IUSF) organized a protest in Colombo, despite a court order issued by the Fort Magistrate's Court. The court had prohibited the convenor, Madushan Chandrajith, and other IUSF members from entering key government premises, including the Presidential Secretariat, the President's House, the Ministry of Finance, and the Central Bank, between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
The protest commenced at the Fort Railway Station, with participants marching through the city. This led to significant traffic congestion around Colombo Fort and the Technical College junction in Maradana.
The IUSF has not publicly disclosed the specific reasons behind this protest. However, such demonstrations are typically organized to advocate for student rights and educational reforms.
Authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the protest or the IUSF's defiance of the court order. The situation remains fluid, and further updates are anticipated.
