Former Sri Lankan Envoy to Russia Granted Bail After Neighborhood Altercation

Udayanga Weeratunga, the ex-Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia, has been released on bail following his arrest for allegedly assaulting a neighbor. The Nugegoda Magistrate granted his release today (17), imposing a cash bail of Rs. 10,000 and requiring two personal sureties.

Weeratunga was taken into custody on the 10th of this month and subsequently remanded. His release comes after a brief period of detention.
