The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has reassured the public that there is no fuel shortage in the country and that distribution is continuing as usual. Despite this, long queues were observed at several fuel stations in Colombo this evening, raising concerns among consumers.
The CPC emphasized that retailers have not confirmed any stoppages in fuel orders, urging the public not to panic.
No Fuel Price Revision This Month
In a statement, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation announced that the monthly revision of fuel prices will not take place this time. As a result, fuel will continue to be sold at current prices:
- Petrol 92 – Rs. 309
- Petrol 95 – Rs. 371
- White Diesel – Rs. 286
- Super Diesel – Rs. 331
- Kerosene – Rs. 183
Meanwhile, Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) has also confirmed that it will not be changing its fuel prices.
Fuel Distributors' Association Announces Order Suspension
The situation follows an announcement by the Fuel Distributors' Association stating that they will halt fuel ordering activities from midnight today. While the reasons for this decision remain unclear, it has contributed to the increasing public concern and long queues at fuel stations.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as the public awaits further updates.
