R.M. Gamini Ratnayake has been elected as the Chair of the Committee on Public Petitions. His name was proposed by MP Manoj Rajapaksa and seconded by MP Ajith Gihan. With no other nominations, he was unanimously elected. During the committee meeting held on the 23rd, he expressed his gratitude and emphasized the need to expedite the petition investigation process to provide relief to petitioners.
Deputy Minister (Dr.) Harshana Suriyapperuma has been elected as the Chair of the Committee on Ways and Means. His appointment was proposed by MP Ruwan Mapalagama and seconded by MP Champika Hettiarachchi. Chrishantha Abeysena has been elected as the Chair of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges. His name was proposed by MP (Attorney at Law) Thushari Jayasinghe and seconded by MP Krishnan Kalaichelvi. The committee met for the first time on the 24th, where Abeysena assumed his new role.
