The Colombo Magistrate's Court ruled on January 27th to release Namal Kumara, who had been remanded in custody for allegedly posting content on social media that violated ethnic harmony. The defense team argued that the case, filed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), could not proceed, requesting his release. After reviewing the arguments from both sides, the Colombo Chief Magistrate concluded that the charges under the PTA were not valid for continuation. Consequently, Kumara was ordered to be released.
