Aravinda Senarath elected as the Chair of the CoPA

Aravinda Senarath, Member of Parliament representing the National People’s Power, was elected as the new Chair of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) today (24). The election took place during the inaugural meeting of the Committee for the first session of the Tenth Parliament.

Senarath’s nomination for the position was proposed by Chandana Sooriyaarachchi and seconded by Susantha Kumara Nawarathna, both members of the National People’s Power.

In his address to the Committee, the newly elected Chair highlighted the importance of collective effort from all members to address the country’s significant financial challenges and guide it toward recovery. He pledged to conduct the Committee’s proceedings with impartiality and independence, assuring that bold and accurate decisions would be made to meet public expectations.
